Best media to get shut of nitrate.

Postby grinner » Sat Oct 22, 2016 10:22 pm

Im setting up a sump and have done a little research online.

In my first chamber theres going to be some fluidised k1 kaldnes which from what i read turns the ammonia/nitrite quickly into nitrate so i think im going to need something to get rid of the nitrate just as fast,
I know theres other factors to consider like the amount of each media and flow rate but these are things im wanting to know.

If anyone could help.
Thanks in advance.

You could use some lava rock. Lava rock seems to work good for nitrate but as your substrate.

I meant to say don't use lava rocks as your substrate. Use it somewhere in the sump.
