Setting up a Trigon 190

Postby Dannymason » Tue Apr 07, 2015 7:52 am

Hey Guys,

So I have had a break from the hobbie for a couple of years but now im back but unlike my first encounter with fish keeping this time I have a complete new tank which is a juwel trigon 190.

I am looking for help on cycling my tank - I am planning on using ocean sand (think that's the one I need to check with LFS) and ocean rock for PH control - any help would be great, I am going to browse the forums aswell to pick up tips.

I did ask the store that ive purchased the tank from about cycling and they said set your tank up wait 4 days and add fish.....now im no expert but that sounds like really bad advice :tw:

Thanks in advance :)

Danny

I have read clares post regarding Tetra safe and i have got some of that but do I need to let the tank stand before fish or is it a case of fish and tetra safe say a day after tank set up? I dont want to put fish in and find that ive done it wrong and get lots of dead fish :(

I have the exact same tank Danny and done the Tetra Safe Start thing last week. Water in treated with Tetra Aquasafe, fish from Tony put in tank followed by TSS. So far so good, testing daily to ensure everything tickety boo :)

bradderz am i right to assume you had the tank running for a week without adding anything but Tetra Aquasafe then added the TSS same day you added fish? Sorry if this sounds dumb I just dont want to get it wrong, been and got a tester kit today was £35 so best be the Dogs Bs haha will be able to test water as much as i want :)

Congrats on your new tank. Just make sure the water is the right temp, dechlorinated and add the fish then add the dose of safe start. Then make sure you follow the instructions. :)
