Removable background

Postby Grant » Wed Jul 11, 2012 5:04 pm

Some of you may have seen in other posts that I have been thinking of having a background and just didn't get on with the film type. At the moment I have a nice magnolia wall background which is fine, but I fancy something different colour wise. Plus I like the fish photos with a plain black background.
Went B&Q this morning and bought a sheet of 8mm MDF and some Matt black paint. (little black dress) it was called ;)

Just cut the wood down to size so I can slot it snuggly behind the tank glass and it's kept in place flush against the tank by the overhanging cabinet and hood.

It's had one coat and just waiting for that to dry for another.

Deak made a valid point in another thread that if the glass isn't painted on directly, when you look from another angle you just get a reflection. So wether this stays in permanently or not I'm still undecided but I shall definitely be using it to take some photos and see how they come out.

Sounds good. I have some great internal backgrounds but my petros started to eat theirs so it came out... I have had to go back to plain black for now though the petros have blue with plants which they stoopidly relentlessly try to eat.
