I have used clear perspex before, siliconing a marble as a handle type thing.

VERY expensive these days compared to back then.

I have clear perspex covers on my fry tanks with a 20mm hole drilled into one end as a finger hole but also doubles up as a hosepipe holder.

I was in the right place at the right time.
I got 25 10mm sheets that were being thrown away.

You can get it in clear too Brett. Check out the cover I just made for my 4ft tank. But the light does go through the opaque stuff anyway - I have just made a condensation barrier out of it and there's no noticeable difference in the light level.

They use it in greenhouses now instead of glass Brett. Hardware shops might have it I suppose.... I bought mine on Ebay... and then Graeme gave me some more from his old greenhouse.
