I had a bit of a disaster myself, when she released the fry in the trap all the other fish went crazy trying to get to them this then would panick her so she then took the the fry back and then jumped out of the trap. She then released the fry in the tank and they all had an early supper :)

Tbh I had no where to put them anyway and my breeding tank is housing a spiny eel at the moment.

I have now gone and brought a second tank pretty cheap on FB. It came with a light heater and filter and its about 60 litres. Would it be a case of filling the new tank with water from the old one and a bit of media from one of my filters to get it up and running?

I put a foam filter in the main tank for a couple of weeks to seed it and then set the breeding tank up with it and water from the main tank (the water was of low nitrates etc). Worked a treat.

I have no sand/rocks on the base and I Hoover up poo once, sometimes twice, a day to keep water quality up.

I was going to put her in the little tank at the weekend when Friday I noticed she had already released the fry( she still had them in on Thursday). I noticed her with the double chin on the 1st so I thought I could leave it 3 weeks before separating her but I have left it too long :(
