Mixing Metriaclima (Maison Reef) with Aulonocara

Postby karl2005united » Sat Dec 05, 2015 9:24 pm

Hi all I have great plans to keep a breeding colony of masonii reef with my peacocks. One obstacle is that they eat different foods, this can be overcome by mixing the diet up, but is the masonii just too aggressive for the peacocks? The Masonii reef are babies and the peacocks are around 3 inch so they will grow up smaller than the peacocks. I just love the fish and would dearly love to keep them as I have my eye on some gorgeous f1, I saw their dad and I dont think I've seen a more beautiful fish! Praying there is a way around this (apart from getting yet another tank lol) btw the tank i have is 600 litres 6 x 2 x 2 thanks to you all

Hi Karl. We keep Aulonocara with the large mbuna with no problems. We feed zm premium granular to all our fish as a blanket food. We have no I'll effects. With regards aggression. Depending on the aulonocara you could have late colouring or no colouring in males if the maisoni are overly dominant. If you have multiple males and plenty of females then it might not be a problem
