I have always used fluval and rate them totally so I am of no help. I have heard good things about the EFX though.

I'm afraid I have had both these filters but the eheim range will always be my favourite. Yes the fx5 has a large pump but its what is done to the water as it filters through the media. I have at the moment a couple of 2080s huge biological filtration at 13 litres each. Look into also the quietness of the filter and also something we all forget running costs. Again Eheim has unbelievably low running costs, its important because your filter runs 24/7. My large 2080s turning 1750 lph runs at just 25w. Yes the fluval is cheaper but with running costs your sure to get your money back in the 1st year. All 3 are good filters but eheim just has that ring of quality, we all know mercedes nd bmw are overpriced, but doesnt stop me from wanting one lol
