Taiwan Reef - how strange

Postby bradderz123 » Sun Sep 20, 2015 7:30 am

On Friday I was only thinking how well my Taiwan Reef was displaying - very happy :tu:

Came home yesterday to find him totally battered - not sure by whom - absolutely gutted :td:

A similar thing happened with my Lwanda.

Not sure what to do....

Exact same thing happened to me with my Jacobfriebergi. Best he ever looked, came home after a night out, battered and dead the next day!

The video shows him a day or two before...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvkVy5RbjKI

He was stunning in your video - such a shame. Suppose it goes with the territory with Malawis :td:

Sadly yes, its what happens. When a male takes on its best ever look its wanting to be the boss, current boss or others of the same level of them in the hierarchy fight it out. Someone always looses. Its the worst thing to happen because its always your best looking fish but think about it.. in time someone else will take the place and look just as amazing. Maybe a different species but amazing.

It happened to me, I had a firefish as the top dog.. I had a battered sunset.. 2 days later the firefish was cream and the burgandy blue looked the best I have ever seen it. Since then they have all taken on a level with no top dog but it wont last long. I am very understocked and need to add more fish. :)

I really regret my few months change to marines - prior to that the tank had found its I had some sort of status quo - did move some fish on but didn't have deaths. Since restocking I've been struggling this time round having lost a Lwanda and a Taiwan Reef - granted the Lithobates looks good but it's an expensive game to keep giving him 'fodder' :td:
