Numbing Red Tops

Postby bradderz123 » Wed Jul 29, 2015 8:07 am

So had four of these since juvenile and no problems. All of a sudden one of the males gets picked on ( I assume in the background he is making a play for dominance? - would that be right?).

Anyway, I separated him which undoubtedly saved his life - as he was pretty beaten up and seen as fair fodder by all the fish - and he has quickly recovered. However, he and another male Ndumbi continue to spar through the trap I have him in - you would have thought he would recall the last outcome in spite of having a small brain!?

Does this mean I should just put him back and let things take their course? Not my favoured option. I'm loathe to move him on completely because I've done that sort of thing in the past and its upset the balance completely (although I moved on a dominant fish rather than sub Dom).

Any other suggestions?

Clearly didn't check the predictive text on the 'title'! Meant Ndumbi Red Tops.

Does feeding more help? Feeding less? Turning heat down or up? Anyone had any successes by changing something?

I have put him back and he has finally accepted he is sub dom - I'll add a mirror though to help :tu:
