Rusty Cichlid F and Yellow Labidochromis M Spawning

Postby iguanad » Mon May 25, 2015 10:05 pm

My yellow lab and rusty keep spawning. There are now about 20 of their offspring at various stages of development in my 55 gallon tank. It was cool at first since they were the only fish spawning in the tank. At first I wasn't sure whose offspring they were. The yellow lab won't let the rusty male mate with the rusty female. He also breaks things up when my kennyii try to spawn. I am considering getting rid of the yellow lab. Suggestions?

Or get some cartfish and they can have regular meals.

Personally I'd move the 'Rusty' on - get a male Yellow Lab to breed with the female and also some other more vibrant fish than Rusty's. Never been a great fan of the Rusty.
