Mbuna Tank Update Vid

Postby peter212693 » Sat Jan 03, 2015 9:02 pm

Hi all,

Bought my fish from Tony a while back now but wanted to do an update video.

Tank is mainly a Msobo tank with a group of Jalo Reef. The dominant male of the Jalo's is defiantly the tank boss. I seems to have come out with 3 male and 1 female Jalo so will need to buy a couple more females and move one male on maybe. He gives the other males a bit of a hard time but nothing to stress them out too much.

Msobos hopefully seem a good mix, what do you think? There is a defiant 2 males with a possible 2 more coming on. The rest seem to be females. Is this a decent balance? They all seem happy enough.

They have some more growing to do so I would say just leave it and enjoy. Those males are stunning. Really is a tank all these species only lovers would die for.

Hi all,

Sadly lost the 3rd male of the Jalo group while I was away on holiday (my brother was looking after the tank). It was the smallest and was being chased and hassled quite a lot by the other 2 males. :td:

Do you have any female Jalo's ready at the moment Clair / Tony? Might grab a couple off you to keep both males busy as the current female is kept very busy with the dominant male

Hey hun. No sorry we don't have any sexed jalo at the moment. Sorry for your loss. If your going away for max 2 weeks. You don't need to let anyone look after it. Just make sure it's not leaking and the filters are running.

No worries Clare. I will keep an eye on the website for them coming back. Had to isolate the other male last night too in a breeder box. The dominant male must be wanting to mate at the moment he's chasing the female like mad and started to really bully the other male to the point you could see nip marks on his body! Doesn't seem as bad today but still like a hyperactive child
