These syno's came in in 2008 as ornatapinnis, a few years ago another ornatapinnis was was being sold and was a totally different species. I have both, but the one in this post is the best for color and growth. The one from a few years ago was bought with the most deep black syno you have ever seen, it had a few gold spots on it's flanks and grew from 2" to 8" in 6 months in a 6x2x2 with large Haps and Mbuna. In the end 8-10 inch predatory haps were frightened to cowering in the corner at feeding time for fear of getting the wrath of this syno. A member of the Catfish Soc, G.B. came to see it , yelled eureka! and bought it of me, peace was returned to the tank. As a matter of interest Rainbow Aq.is my favourite shop, being going there for 30 years now, a round trip of 250 mile which I try to do twice a year. One of his main suppliers was a certain Nancy Shuttle in the 80's and 90's and she could get any fish you like to breed for her, took my ex on one occasion and ended up with a son.
