Finally, the fish have some more room

Postby Darryl » Mon Sep 30, 2013 7:19 pm

Was hoping to get a 5 - 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank or even a 5ft x 2.5ft x 2ft tank from ND Aquatics with Optiwhite both front and back as the plans were to make it a room divider. However as the latter requires 12mm glass which bumps the price up to around the £500-600 for the glass alone, I decided I couldn't afford this option at this time in life. I managed however to pick up an AquaOne 4ftx2ftx2ft tank, cabinet, 2 filters (one rena filterstar), 2 x 300w heaters and a lighting unit for £100. Needed a clean but didn't me more than 1hr to give it a good going over. Just finished today cleaning the Rena filter and install it, had an AquaManta EFX600 already which is my main filter. Will look at upgrading to another EFX600 though I'll probably go the one that Tony sells as they look identical and I want to add some more stock to my tank :)

Anyway really happy with it so far, will still like to get a 5ft but this will suffice for a 1-3 years. My Venustus are really enjoying the new space and have set a nice little breeding pit in the bottom right. They keep attempting to breed but she ain't holding yet. My Aulonocara OB female is holding yet again. She spat in Jan/Feb and have 3 juveniles left from about 40-50 fry. I removed her not long ago into bucket so she would spit but I added them back into the tank and hoped for the best. Needed to make her spit as we were going to be moving and I needed her fed and healthy to survive the move. She is now holding again!
