Pond renovation after 3yrs of neglect

Postby Tony » Wed Jul 03, 2013 12:53 am

You may have noticed I haven't bee on the forum very much lately, here is the reason why.

We have decided to bring the pond back to life after I lost total interest for 3yrs, It has been hard work but it is starting to look better now.

here are one or two pic's of progress so far and Clare or myself will update the thread with further progress as the work continues, I feel we will just get it something like finished and winter will be upon us :text-lol:

Waterfall with all the dead palm's etc, these were killed in the severe winter we had the other year and just left were they were :snooty:

All removed ready for the new plant's, but getting the compost back to condition took an age :td:

The veggie filter, without any veg. :text-lol:

Now with a few young plant's in and they will hopefully take hold and grow well.

More plant's to go in, but ran out of compost and plant's

Plant's now in the troughs were the dead palm's were.

here is a quick video taken just before clean up after planting the veggie filter.

Still plenty to do, but pleased with the progress so far, the only frustrating part is we have been waiting three week's now for part's to arrive regarding the water clarity equipment ( protein skimmer) .

We have also decided to put a raised overhanging decking area in the "Kidney" part of the pond where the wild rhubarb plant is.
