What Syno?

Postby Lakeside Mbuna » Tue Mar 19, 2013 5:06 pm

Hi all, I have two questions.

1. Can Bristlenose and Synodontis species be kept together?

2. Which Synodontis species is best suited to a 3 foot tank?

Thanks, Neil.

Yes

Multipuntatus, Petricola ,or Lucipinnis , the Multi's will be out and about far more than the other two but they will disrupt your Malawi's breeding ,so just that to take into consideration if you are wanting young from your tank

Thanks, Neil.

The two synos that are easiest to get hold of are S.multipunctatus, the cuckoo cat, which are too boisterous for a three footer really and would put pay to most of your cichlid spawns, and S.lucipinnis, the Dwarf Petricola but usually just sold as Petricola (S.petricola is :text-yeahthat: actually a different species altogether and only infrequently available) which would do well, preferably in a small group, in a three footer and have less impact on cichlid spawns. Most other species would be a bit cramped in a three footer but would no doubt survive as these fish are bullet proof and live forever.
